🟠 Week 3: Mandela’s Legacy – Breaking Barriers & Building Dreams
Riddle
What starts with hope, grows with courage, and can knock down even the tallest wall?
(Answer: Dreams empowered by action.)
Key Observance
This week, we celebrate International Mandela Day on 18 July, a day dedicated to continuing Nelson Mandela’s fight for freedom, justice, and opportunity for all. His life reminds us that when we dare to dream — and act to break down barriers — we change not just our own lives, but the lives of many.
Our theme this week, Mandela’s Legacy: Breaking Barriers & Building Dreams, brings together the hopes of DeafBlind youth and the importance of challenging the obstacles that limit them. Like Mandela, who envisioned a world beyond apartheid’s barriers, we too must imagine — and build — a world where every DeafBlind child and adult can reach their potential.
Supporting DeafBlind dreams means creating accessible schools, inclusive communities, and opportunities where talents shine beyond disabilities. And it means standing up to outdated attitudes, policies, or physical barriers that keep people isolated.
As Helen Keller said, “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”
This week, let’s honour Mandela by lifting up the dreams of DeafBlind youth and breaking every barrier that stands in their way.
Wishing you a hopeful, courageous week — until we meet again!
