đźź  Wednesday: Stories of Strength

Helen Keller Quote:

“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.”

My Journey: Voices from the DeafBlind Community

Yesterday, we explored how DeafBlind people communicate through touch and connection. Today, we go deeper — into the lives behind those hands, the stories that remind us just how powerful the human spirit can be.

Being DeafBlind is not just about adjusting to the loss of sight or hearing — it’s about navigating life in a world that isn’t always designed for you. It takes courage. It takes patience. And it takes a strength that is often quiet but unshakable.

Today, we honour that strength through a personal story.

💬 “When I lost my hearing, I learned to read lips. When I lost my sight, I thought it was the end. But then I learned to feel words in the palm of my hand. That was the beginning of something new.” – DBSA member

This is the kind of strength we celebrate — not the kind that never struggles, but the kind that keeps going anyway.

Behind every DeafBlind person is a journey worth telling. And when we listen — truly listen — we begin to see that overcoming is not just possible, it’s happening every day.
