Rise Above the Noise
International Friendship Day
Friendship has a wonderful way of rising above the noise.
In a world filled with busy schedules, constant notifications and endless conversations, it’s easy to think that friendship is measured by how often we talk. But the strongest friendships are built on something much quieter.
They are built on presence.
For many people in the DeafBlind community, friendship isn’t about having the easiest conversation. It’s about someone who is willing to learn your way of communicating. Someone who waits instead of rushing. Someone who walks beside you at your pace. Someone who remembers the little things that make life easier.
Perhaps that’s what true friendship has always been.
The DeafBlind community reminds us that the greatest friendships aren’t built on perfect communication—they’re built on patience, trust and simply showing up for one another.
This International Friendship Day, celebrate the people who make you feel seen, valued and welcome. And if you have the opportunity, be that person for someone else.
Sometimes the smallest gesture—a smile, a helping hand, a few extra moments of patience or simply being present—can brighten someone’s whole day.
Carry this thought with you this week:
The best friendships don’t ask us to fit in. They help us belong.
