🦊 October 2025 – Halloween / November Preview
Theme: Looking Ahead – Men Who Honour, Communities That Protect
Date: 31 October 2025
Quote:
“A man is not diminished by honouring a woman. He is defined by it.” – Thabo Mbeki
On Halloween, we play with masks, costumes, and imagination — a day where creativity and fun meet curiosity. But beyond the playful, there is a lesson that carries into the month ahead: real strength is not about appearance or fear, it is about care, courage, and protection.
November invites us to explore what it means to be a man who honours, and how communities can work together to protect, support, and empower. From International Men’s Day (19 Nov) to World Children’s Day (20 Nov) and the start of the 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov), this month will focus on positive masculinity, consent, community healing, and building safe futures.
The fox teaches us a valuable lesson: wisdom alone is not enough. Strength must be paired with strategy, awareness, and action. Just as October brought knowledge of rights and inclusion — the giraffe perspective — November asks us to put that understanding into practice. Men, families, and communities are called to be alert, intentional, and protective, creating spaces where every individual is respected, valued, and safe.
This is a month to celebrate those who honour others through their actions, to reflect on how respect builds strong families and communities, and to prepare for the work of transformation that comes when knowledge meets responsibility.
DeafBlind South Africa’s Closing Message:
As October ends, we look forward to a November of action, respect, and protection. Let us celebrate men who honour, communities that safeguard, and the steps we can all take to make every space safer, more inclusive, and empowering for everyone.
