Women’s Voices RISE

🟠 Week 5: Women’s Voices Rise – Preparing for August

Riddle: What starts quietly, grows stronger when shared, and has the power to change families, communities, and nations?

Answer: Women’s voices.

As July draws to a close, we look forward to August — South Africa’s Women’s Month. This week’s theme, Women’s Voices Rise, is about recognizing and amplifying the voices of DeafBlind women, who face unique challenges at the intersection of disability and gender.

Every woman deserves to feel heard and respected. But DeafBlind women are often doubly marginalized — excluded from conversations about both gender equality and disability rights. By making space for their stories and supporting their leadership, we build stronger, fairer communities.

Raising women’s voices is not just an act of justice; it’s a way to unlock new perspectives, talents, and solutions. As we prepare for Women’s Month, let’s commit to listening deeply and uplifting every DeafBlind woman’s right to speak and be heard.

As Helen Keller said, “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.”

Conclusion

This week, let’s do something powerful: honour the voices of DeafBlind women and stand beside them as they rise.

Wishing you a week full of purpose and unity — until we meet again!
