WEDNESDAY REAL STORY
Meet Thabo: Building Skills, One Step at a Time
Thabo lost his sight and hearing in his early 20s and thought he’d never work again. But through a local workshop, he learned basic carpentry skills using adapted tools and clear tactile instructions.
At first, communication was tough. But with patience, he and his mentor created a simple touch-based system using hand signs and object cues. Now, Thabo makes custom shelves and sells them in his community.
His advice?
“Start small. Learn with your hands. Ask for help. You don’t have to do it alone.”
Every skill you gain adds to your power. Keep going , your journey is valid.
